Nose: Malty and fruity. Orange and cinnamon. Pineapple candy. Sweeter and more rounded than the BenRiach Heart of Speyside. Flowery. Slightly peppery as well, which gives it some punch. Uncomplicated but very elegant. Mouth: rather undefined start, a bit unpleasant if you ask me. Plenty of malt. After that, lots of caramel (although BenRiach doesn’t add colouring) and cream. Vanilla and nutmeg. Sweeter finish. Honeyed. Hints of chocolate, vanilla and spicy bourbon wood. Not too long and getting drier in the end.

Overall, the nose promises more than this BenRiach is able to deliver on the palate. I liked the cheaper ‘Heart of Speyside’ version more.
