Announcing Pure: The Music and Whisky Festival

Author: Connosr Date: 20th Jul 2011 Published in: Events

Here at Connosr we are on a mission to bring whisky to a wider audience and so we are proud to announce our new whisky and music event - Pure Festival 2011 - at the Relentless Garage in Islington, London, on the 24th and 25th September.

A new kind of festival whisky & music lovers

One of the best, small festival line ups 2011 has to offer; entrance, two rooms of bands and whisky are all included in the ticket price. Musical highlights across the weekend include: The Raveonettes, James Yorkston, Smoke Fairies, Steve Mason, Electric Soft Parade, Charlie Waller and Kassidy.

Well respected whisky writer Dominic Roskrow will also be on hand to give you a chance to try some of the World Whisky Masters medal winners - featuring amazing, and hard to find, whiskies from around the world.

Exhibitors confirmed so far include Ardbeg, AnCnoc, Whyte & Mackay with more to be announced in the coming days. Tickets are on sale now through HMV at just £28.50 per day.

This sounds like the start of something incredible. On the WWW forum (link here http://www.whiskywhiskywhisky.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5189), there has been a discussion thread about how to make whisky more relevant in the grand scheme of the liquor/spirits world (links to this event have been posted on the thread).

This seems to be exactly the type of event that could help whisky achieve greater appreciation amongst a wider audience. Particularly, making whisky interesting/cool without resorting to cheesy promotions that end up 'dumbing down' the product being promoted. In fact it is the educational component on the webpage, along with the format of the event itself, that seems to be the key...teaching how best to appreciate whisky, and de-mystifying it, in a relaxed manner.

@thedude asks a great question (which I guess can't really be answered until after this event actually occurs)...will other cities...say, the 'other' London :) - see an event like this in the future?

Way to go Connosr, Relentless, and The Garage!!

Thanks @Pudge72

Pure Festival is very much about making whisky accessible to a new and wider audience. It's our first year so we need as many people to shout about it as possible :)

In addition to the acts performing on the main stage listed above. The line up has now been confirmed for Sunday 25th September. Martin Rossiter, Heart Kill Giant, Roxanne De Bastion & The Cellophane Flowers join the billing for the upstairs stage.

Indie record label Fierce Panda are curating the upstairs stage for Saturday 24th and will be confirming the acts performing there very shorty.

Why not get the band Trapped in Kansas? In the band are Chris Ward and Colin O'Hara, two of the Auchentoshan staff! Seems appropriate :) I can get you in touch in you like.
