Signatory Vintage has no less than 48 releases of Caperdonich on record and this is one of them from 2000, bottled in those beautiful but clumsy decanters in 2021.

Particularly interesting and aromatic nose on white fruit and almond paste. Anise and wood join in. It's a tad spicy on white pepper and something chemical that I can't describe other than nail polish remover and wet roofing. I also have to think of American rye whiskey. I kid you not. But... I hasten to add that this works fine and this is a delicious nose.

That all returns to the palate, but... there is also a pretty soapy side to it. Do I taste dish soap now? Shampoo? Oops, this is going in the wrong direction very quickly for me. I'm sorry, but despite a lot of fruitiness and perhaps a certain complexity, I can't get past the perfumed character.

The finish is very long, but because of the soapiness that is not an advantage for me.

Darn, I expected a lot more of this, especially after such a great nose. But this is a turn off. Thanks anyway, Benny. It's not your fault, sir...
