The number of casks of Glen Grant that Signatory has bottled is staggering. This Vintage 1997 is a vatting of two hogsheads and was cut to 43%.

Spring fresh nose on young apples, mandarin and heathery flowers. Some vanilla on top as well as a pinch of white pepper. Almond shavings in the background. Very fresh and lively.

The body is fine. The malt is immediately honeysweet with a little prickle from the alcohol. The white fruit and mandarin reappears, but no trace of the nuts. In it’s stead I get more citrus than expected with some grapefruit in the mix. Ridiculously easy to drink.

The finish is not very long, but satisfying enough.

Card player’s whisky at heart. Thanks for the sample, Benny.
