I only started drinking whisky in December 2010, but the seed had been sown the previous year when a friend asked me to try his cask strength Clynelish 14 year old. The following Christmas the same friend brought a Cadenheads Caol Ila cask strength bottling in for sampling, and that was the catalyst for the start of my whisky journey.

My first bottle purchased was a bottle of Laphroaig 10 year old, and now I'm on a journey of discovery and have started working my way through the single malts of Scotland as well as sampling other whiskies and will write about my experiences on my blog.

This was the 12th whisky tasted in my journey, and was my May 2011 bottle. I've just finished it and was really trying to find something in the last few drams in order to write something meaningful here… read more
