    @markjedi1: great invention that necklace/glassbearer don't you agree? ;)

  • 17th Nov 2009

    @markjedi: I've only just read your post on belgian singelmalt (3 oct). I've tried the Gouden Carolus at the Whisky Festival, and if you want to get a hint: try their Gouden Carolus triple beer...it tastes just alike. To be honest, this one had only matured just long enough to be categorized single malt, but the people of Het Anker assured that this was exactly what they wanted to make: an atypical authentic belgian malt. In my cabinet I've got the Belgian Owl. Same story here: it hasn't matured long enough yet. This one's still got a mildly flavoured spirit taste, comparable to e.g. a grappa, we'll have to bepatient I guess.

    Half an hour ago I couldn't resist buying the Talisker 1998 Distillers Edition...only one bottle left at the local supermarket...review coming soon ;)

    Wouldn't it be nice if there was a link on your reviews to a 'printpage'. By that I mean a page with -only - the review in a nice layout so you can print out the reviews if you want to keep them by hand in a map or something..?

    Rating the quality of the review seams ok, but I fear people will start to rate based on content...e.g.: I write a positive review on a certain whisky, and someone who does not like that particular whisky at all might give it thumbs down :s

  • Balvenie 12 Year old Double Wood - Isn't the climax supposed to come at the end...

    By dXIIIr on 17th Nov 20092009-11-17T20:17:00

    The Balvenie Double Wood opens up with a rich, warming aroma full of red dried fruit sweetness. Further nosing lets you discover some apple and makes you hungry for a piece of rum-filled cake. You could… read more

  • Laphroaig 10 Year old - From the peaty shores of the Atlantic

    By dXIIIr on 16th Nov 20092009-11-16T19:32:00

    This was my third excursion in the world of peated malts. My introduction being the mild Talisker 10y, followed by a sherried/peated BenRiach 12y, this Laphroaig was my first experience with a fullbodied… read more

  • Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban - Is it a port? Is it a red wine? No, it's a whisky!

    By dXIIIr on 29th Oct 20092009-10-29T19:42:00

    'Though the finish of the standard Glenmorangie 10y didn't quite meet my expectations, its initial aroma more than tickled my senses. This kept me from losing interest in the brand, and when I came a… read more

    Also one of the first malts I tasted. It has a fruity sweet nose with an overwhelming scent of fresh pineapples. When tasting the fruitiness is tempered and eventually evolves into hints of cederwood and… read more

  • Glenfiddich Caoran Reserve 12 Year old - Nice try

    By dXIIIr on 22nd Oct 20092009-10-22T19:12:00

    This Caoran reserve has practically the same fruity aroma as the normal 12y, accept that the apples and pears are tempered by some slight smoky, peaty hints. It's taste on the other hand hasn't got any… read more
