I am a dedicated husband and father of two young daughters. I enjoy a nightly dram and alternate between different styles. In my limited free time, I enjoy commuting to work on my bicycle (22 miles roundtrip), training with kettlebells, pu erh tea, history, and cooking.
Since Connosr does not have uniform standards for ratings, here is a bit of information on my standards. I rate within the following categories Single Malts or Vatted, Blended Scotch, American, and Canadian, and Other. Generally, 90 and above is for exceptional whiskies in the top 10% of their class. 80 to 89 is for very solid above average whiskies that might be awarded to say the best 20% of products. 70 to 79 is for average whiskies in their class. 60 to 69 is for below average whiskies. Below 60 is just bad whisky with some noticeable flaws. For various reasons, I may go back and edit reviews.

Ridgemont Reserve 1792 8 Year old - Judging a Book by the Cover
82
While it is axiomatic that you cannot ordinarily judge a book by its cover or a whisky by its bottle, in this case I think you can judge this whisky by the bottle. The bottle has pretensions of elegance… read more

Sazerac Rye - A Rye to Try
79
This is one of a few ryes which I have been sampling lately. While there is nothing flawed with this, in my mind it lacks some complexity and depth that might make it better. I prefer other ryes (see… read more

Knappogue Castle 1995 - The Unbearable Lightness of Whiskey
73
This is one of lightest whiskeys I have tried. The color is light, the nose is light, but quite pleasant, and the mouth feel is relatively light. I understand that Irish whiskies are generally lighter… read more
