Speyside, Campbeltown, Single Malt, Vatted or Blended, cutting or cask strength, non-chill filtered … about a year ago, you’d knocked me right off my socks with these terms. Today, I have a well filled whisky cabinet; I regularly attend a whisky tasting and (almost) daily enjoy a good dram.
I didn’t inherit my love for whisk(e)y from my parents. But I did drink my first whisky at home: on the sly I niped from the bottles in my dad’s cabinet.
I wouldn’t call myself a connoisseur or a whisky collector; I am more a whisky lover. I can best rephrase it with a one-liner from a Dutch commercial from the ’80: ‘Ik vind het gewoon lekker!' (*)
