I have three real loves in life, my dog, fly fishing and whisky. Drinking and collecting quality single malt whisky is relatively new to my world, only having started really appreciated within the last 2 or so years.

About 2 years ago a friend introduced me to Talisker and all of my opinions of what whisky tasted like were changed. The complex flavours, beautiful aromas, monstrous finishes... single malt scotch whisky was more then I had ever thought a simple spirit could be. Now I keep a bottle at 3 friends houses for when I stop by so I have a drink while they drink their vodkas and gins. I keep a flask with me on the river while fishing for a quick warmer or celebration of a beautiful catch.

Location: Chicago

Favourite whisky(s): Caol Ila, Ardbeg, Lagavulin

This whisky is quite a catch, but in a strange way. It seems to me that Bruichladdich made an interesting decision with this malt and my hat is off to them. Both non chill-filtered and colouring free add… read more
