So far I have tried 6 versions of the a’bunadh (meaning ‘from the well’) and all of them were simply great. So I have no reason the believe this one will be any less interesting. Off we go!

The nose reminds me of oranges that have been drenched in red port. Something of candied figs as well. Honeysweet with some dark chocolate, cloves and cinnamon.

Study arrival, which comes as no surprise. Clear sherry influence in the shape of figs and raisins, orange marmalade and red fruit in a stew. Chocolate reappears, but less pronounced than on the nose. Nutmeg and a leaf of mint kick in. Pear syrup. Very intense taste, yet quaffable without water if you take small sips.

The finish is extremely long, spicy and warming, but remains honeysweet. Of course, I would almost add.

Again a great a’bunadh, although it does not reach the same intensity as previous batch in my humble opinion. I prefer batches 8, 19 and 24 to this one.

I've heard the 28 was legendary....and good things about the 42. They are both on my "waiting list"
