This Arran has matured on a sherry cask and, like the one I just tried, was bottled by The Nectar Belgium.
The sherry influence is immediately discernable on the nose, which seems to be sweet and fruity. Apple and dried apricots. Dried flowers, as well. Some mint and toffee. Truckload of honey. Dusty, too. Nice.
The dried apricots and honey return on the wonderfully creamy palate. Very spicy. Liquid gingerbread. Turns slightly bitter towards the end. Delicious in all its simplicity.
The finish is slightly drying and very long. Heartwarming.
Complex? No. So what? It is a great whisky. Very nice cask selection indeed.
