This Arran is 11 years old and was bottled, at cask strength, for the Belgian market in 2010 by The Nectar.
The nose reminds me a lot of the Maltman bottling: again a lot of malt and flowers, white fruit. The vanilla is present, albeit a bit less here. Loads of pineapple, too, but the hard candy. Nougat as well. Wood shavings. Nice.
It is nice and creamy, soft on spices. Very sweet: again a lot of pineapple and hazelnuts. The wood delivers some pepper and more vanilla than on the nose. Not overly complex, true, but very clean and accessible.
The finish may not be long, but it is wonderfully sweet on – wait for it – pineapple.
This Arran is very sweet on pineapple – maybe even slightly overly so? A pineapple Arran, to be sure. I would not be able to tell if it is still available, though.
