Tasting Notes by markjedi1

Maltman is the label used by the Medowside Blending Company. I have already tried quite a few of their single malts. Today we try one from a distillery that I am not at all familiar with: Arran.

The nose is sweet on malt, vanilla, flowers, pineapple, apple and peach. Some marzipan and something that reminds me of cuberdons, a typical purple candy from Belgium with a soft sugar filling. Nice!

The palate is creamy, almost fatty, with the same associations as on the nose. But now the spices come out in full force. Pepper, cinnamon and ginger. The oak speaks, but does not shout.

The finish is slightly drying and a bit zesty.

A good and sweet Arran, devoid of any kind of finish, for which I am grateful. A tad expensive though, around 70 EUR.
