This Arran, bottled by the Belgian Taste Still, got a finish on a Burgundy wine cask. Fixin is a village in the Côtes de Nuit, a wine region that runs from Beaune to Dijon. They are known for their fantastic, and high price demanding, red wines. But that does not guarantee that the whisky is any good, as I was about to find out.

The nose is hot and spirity with a mildly sour element that soon evolves towards honeysweet on strawberries. Reminds me of cherry liqueur. And nuts, a whole basket. The liquid filling of a Mon Chérie praline sans the chocolate. Maybe I can douse it a little? Argh, nope, it turns winey.

The attack is razor sharp and puts my salive glands in overdrive. Again hot and spirity, alas. Well, the perfect continuation of the nose, although the term perfect is used ironically in this case. Adding water makes it even sharper and somewhat sour. Not recommended.

The medium long finish is crass. And honeysweet, even diluted.

One of the least Arran I have tried so far. Truly not my kind of dram. Thanks anyway, Marc.
