Boy, I have only tried 4 Aultmore up to now, imagine that. Anyway, for this 5th one I sought out an independent bottling by Wemyss, who released this back in 2013. ‘Sweet Mint Infusion’ is the name. I am curious.

The nose starts rather shyly. Some lemongrass, apple sauce, baking butter and sweet malt. Reminds me a bit of pancake batter. Some hay and eucalyptus. Hint of hazelnuts. It needs some time, but then opens up nicely.

It has a rather light body, but is very spicy from the start. Liquorice, ginger, mint and some aniseed. The fruit is now more like baked apples and some Seville oranges.

The finish is farily long on citrus and honey, but dies a very dry death because of the tannins.

Nice Aultomre, sure, but not a stunning malt. The nose is a bit too docile for that, the body too light and the finish a touch to dry.
