Tasting Notes by galg

As I’ve mentioned in the last post about the 1975 vintage Balblair, another new vintage will be released shortly by the guys from Edderton: a much younger 2002 edition. Again, this one will be bottled at 46% ABV , NCV, and no colouring added. As opposed to the 1975, this liquid was aged in 100% Ex-Bourbon casks. Pricing has not been announced yet, but surely it will be much cheaper.

Nose: This is a young and fruity one : apples and pears in light woody and malty packaging. Add some honey, Wood spice and a dash of Vanilla. Light and fruity summer dram. Plenty of wood for a youngster if you’re looking for some. Palate : Zingy entry with zest on top of Pears and apples , malt honey and spice. Full bodied. Sugar and spice and don’t forget those lovely Cereals, and a hint of unripe Banana. Finish: Apple peel. Cereal and malty sugars. Unripe Banana too.

All in all a very fruity, young and light sort of dram. Excellent for summer sipping, and full of flavours. Good work lads.
