Ballechin #5 The Marsala Casks is the official name. Very rugged single malt whisky with attitude! Rough but pleasant, had a Silver Medal by Malt Maniacs.

Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch comes to mind immediately. Well, any film that is good and violent. That's how rough this Ballechin is. Nice dram, I dare you to try. If you can find it.

Not a heavy smoke dram but a strongly peaty whisky.

Nose: Strong peat with malt, earthly and floral feel. Hints of coconut.

Taste: Salty peat gives the biggest factor to the taste but there's sweet and bitter notes too: ginger ale and lemon and then the peat monster end.

Finish: Can you guess? Peat! Ashes and earthly tones.

Balance: Not a complex one but very enjoyable. Young age shows but it doesn't matter. Good dram!
