Tasting Notes by markjedi1

This is the only cask of Teaninich that was bottled by the German bottler Liquid Sun. Teaninich, property of Diageo, is used for the blending industry. To try it as a single malt you must turn towards independent bottlers.

The nose offers creamy farmer’s butter, vanilla and almonds, but also walnuts. A touch of mint and something like green tea. Quite floral, actually. A whole bouquet of wild flowers, including roses. A slice of lime. Interesting, but not really grand.

It is creamy on the palate. Good body. But the wood is loud. Vanilla and tannins demand your attention, while the fruit – which I would describe as apples mostly – barely has a chance to manifest itself. Drop of cough syrup. Again the walnuts. Freshly cut grass. Quaffable without water.

The finish is fairly long on apples, lime and wood.

Good, no doubt about it, but I have had better Teaninich. But I have also had worse, so…

Have you tried the Millstone 100? One of the best Rye whiskys I have tasted and ranks right there with Rye staples Lot 40, Masterson's and Whistle Pig IMHO.
