Let’s finish our line-up of non-Scotch whisky with one from the homefront, bottled at 46% (there is also a version at 76,1%). It is five years old and named officially ’60 months’. Whatever. Let’s taste.

The nose is fresh and grassy with mostly vanilla and pears. Peach and maybe even some cherries. Loads of grains, though, but that does not come as a surprise at this young age. Mildly floral. Little bit of spices. Maybe a pinch of white pepper and some ginger.

It is quite creamy and feisty (again ginger in the lead) on the palate, but offers little more than on the nose. Fresh, yes, but not much more than pear juice on steroids in fact. Grains and gras pop up. Hints of tannins.

Medium long finish on soft spices, some citrus and pears.

A rather straightforward Belgian whisky, but there is nothing wrong with it. A nice aperitif on a spring day. Thanks, Pat!
