The Flemish bottler Asta Morris selected this BenRiach for TastToe Two, a whisky retailer in Wondergel (Belgium). I visited the shop a few months ago. Quite a nice selection, and this bottling certainly makes another visit worthwhile. Even though it is a NAS bottling (much like the Dalmore for The Bonding Dram), you can buy it for only 45 EUR. Nice label!

The first whiff was a little woody (fresh wood shavings), but after a few moments that makes room for nuts, orchard fruit, sultanas and caramel. Quite sweet, but with a dark lining, you see? The wood and nuts remain prominent, upholstered with some cinnamon and candied ginger.

Nice body, good on the spice front. The attack is good! The fruit translates into more sultanas, but also mildly bitter oranges and something floral. Heather and some wild flower. Garden herbs, as well. Thym, for example. Ginger and cinnamon return, joined by a good helping of liquorice, giving it a gentle bitterness.

The medium long finish remains fruity and warming.

Nice BenRiach, although on a whole other level than those we are used for Asta Morris. The price is more than correct!
