Black & White bottled 1990

Black & Whyte was launched by James Buchanan in the late 19th Century. It was introduced in the English House of Commons in a black bottle with a white lable. Hence the name. The famous dogs, Bobby and Fanny, were added to the label much later, after James had seen them at a dog show. A good portion of the whisky comes from the Glentauchers Distillery.

It has a very light nose with loads of citrus and toffee (from the grain?), some apples, but not much else. Maybe some nuts? Light and innocent.

The arrival is somewhat light, but a lot of body and very easy going. But then I suppose it was meant to be. A mild creaminess, some banana and milk chocolate. A hint of peat in the background. Again rather simple, but not unpleasant. A twig of mint at the end.

The finish is somewhat short and shows some tannins. Green tea?

A blend of thirteen in a dozen. Recently spotted for only 20 EUR.
