A few years ago, this Blair Athol was released in Signatory’s Un-Chillfiltered Collection. That means no chill filtration and drinking strength, in this case 13%. For this release, two casks were married, yielding a total of 753 bottles. It is surprisingly pale.

Green apples, freshly cut grass and some bubblegum. That is the first impression I get on the nose. But there is more going on. Some vanilla, grapefruit and something of sugared lemon peel follows. Some toffee apples. Nothing spectacular, but flawless just the same. Fresh spring nose. Reminds me somewhat of homemade lemonade.

It has a good body. Almost syrupy. Mouth coating. A small hint of pepper joins the fruit from the nose, that returns nicely. Mostly the grapefruit and lemon speak, the apples, whisper. Loads of vanilla. Sweeter than expected, but dangerously quaffable.

While the finish offers nothing new, it does linger quite long.

Lovely Blair Athol that goes down easily. Was around 35 EUR, which seems a steal for this single malt.
