Tasting Notes by GT2

Matte black bottle sampled at Jack Rose in DC. 62.5% and 167PPM bottling. The fourth iteration in the Octomore series.

App- Pours a clear straw, very clear and light like chardonnay. Very sharp, delicate, needle like tears/legs on the snifter.

Nose- Very insane with intense as hell forest floor, spruce tips, lemon verbana, raw animal, body odor, native human, campfire, roasted game. A 'primal' nose if there ever was one. Opening up it, the nose adds peppercorn encrusted sweet bacon and rendered bacon fat, even moving to sweet to maple pancake breakfast.

Taste- Super heating at 62.5% with sharp white pepper, sage leaf, cracked pepper, melted animal fat, campfire heat.

Palate- Bitter, powerful, raw, one of the most primal things I have experienced. Balanced still given the abv. One to savor very slowly.

I forgot to mention in the review that the actual dude whose Single Malt Scotch collection is now property (for the most part) of Jack Rose saw my fiance and I looking at the bottle list and asked what I liked. I said Port Charlotte PC8 was my favorite Scotch so far and he said go for the Octomore 4. Go big or go home. Cool guy. I wish he was my grandfather.
