Caperdonich is popular (because it is such a grand whisky), that is no secret. That Boutique-y Whisky Company knows this, after all this is already their third no age statement release from this lost Speysider.

The nose is honeysweet, but pretty dry. It prickles, despite the modest ABV. Applesauce, gooseberries, leather, mint. Then vanilla ice cream, white chocolate with rice (Galak Popri, where is the time?) and butterscotch. Man, this is good!

It is oily, almost creamy, and prickly on the palate as well. Spicy! Even somewhat smoky. Woodspice. Peat? The applesauce and mint return first, but are soon joined by baked appels, pears and even some rhubarb. A bit of citer as well. Loads of apples, thus. A slight bitterness along the way. Nice balance.

The finish is warm, sweet, spicy and wonderfully long.

We think an age statement is important, rightly so. But even without an age statement, fear not for this is a great Caper, if somewhat expensive.
