This was the Octave for Malts & More! An Octave is a small cask, about an eighth of a butt. Duncan Taylor has bottled two Caperdonich 1972 from sherry casks in this series, that I will put H2H today. I started with a 38 Year Old of which the cask only yielded 70 bottles, to be followed now by this twin cask, also 38 years old, also from 1972, that yielded only 71 bottles and was bottled for Malts & More.
The nose is no less succulent that the previous one. Very smooth on all kinds of fruit (mango and oranges mostly) with a similar edge. No broth, this time, but something that reminds me of tomato soup. I know this sounds a bit queer and makes it sound less fruity than it really is.
It is less oily than its predecessor, but no less expressive. Sweeter. Very fruity animal. Jam of mango. Spicy: ginger, nutmeg and a pinch of chili pepper. Great!
On the long, sweet finish ik get even more spices and a touch of oak.
Just a touch more fruity than the other one. Simply fantastic Caper. Thanks, Teun!
