This is yet another Clynelish from Malts of Scotland. I wonder how many casks they have lying around from this Highlander.

The nose is very creamy, almost buttery, on melon, grapefruit, apples and honey, but also has a mineral side. Flints. But those are gone quickly, making it utterly sweet. Some humus or moss. Beeswax is the lead aroma though. The typical coastal character remains somewhat absent. I left it to breath for about ten minutes and got rewarded with some smokiness.

Hmm, this is wonderfully creamy on the palate. Immediately fruity as well. Lemon pie! Grapefruit, caramel, vanilla, black pepper and cloves. But again lacking in coastal elements, making it somewhat atypical.

The finish is longer than a tv soap, and much more interesting, fruity and dies on orange peel and spices.

It is not the first time that we must recognize the fact that Malts of Scotland not only bottles very good, but also atypical, whisky. This is one of those, that surprises not only by being damn good, but also an interloper. Wonderful. Around 115 EUR.
