This will prove to be a hard review to write. When I write reviews I don't read any other tasting notes or reviews beforehand so I am completely uninfluenced. Sometimes afterwards I find official tasting notes are completely different to what I've written. This Clynelish with its title of Fresh Fruit Sorbet has made this difficult to be uninfluenced but I will try.......

On the nose I get apples, zestiness and grapes. Actually, it's a bit like white wine both in colour and on the nose. With a bit of time classic Clynelish brininess appears, as the nose sweetens slightly. But yes, if you think of Lemon Sorbet it does appear to be there.

The palate is very initially sweet but it quickly gives way to salt and again zesty fruit flavours. It's not often I'd describe a whisky as tangy but this is so. It prickles your mouth and tongue quite pleasantly. Drying on the palate as you'd expect from Clynelish it fades to a briney dry finish with a touch of the zingy fruit lingering.

Clynelish has never disappointed me, whether it be official or independent bottlings. It is rapidly becoming my favourite distillery outside of Islay. Maybe an excuse to travel all the way to the very top of Scotland one day.
