Tasting Notes by galg

I really enjoyed Flaming heart two years ago (boy how times flies!) when CB turned 10 years old, and was really looking fwd to trying this one too. Jhon Glazer is one hell of a good master blender and whisky wizard and know his stuff. so this one was supposed to be a little stunner too. This latest edition contains whiskies from Islay (Laphroaig), Highlands (Clynelish) , and some Ardmore, with a combination of refill American Oak (heavily toasted) and sherry casks. Sounds good? It’s good. believe me.

Nose: We’re in Islay time now. Starts with a lot of peat smoke, smoked ham, BBQ, leather and vanilla, lovely smokiness which is just great. Laphroaigish but not very medicinal. some earthy tones as well, with burnt dry leaves.

Palate: Oh pepper mama. Starts peppery with tons of ash, smoke and BBQ’ed meat, then into peat land, with medicinal , a bit of fruit. vanilla, and sugar with a touch of cinnamon and spice. tar, salt. and wax it’s a party in your mouth and you want to get MORE!

Finish :Long, smoky BBQ fire that is no longer. hints of BBQ meat in marinade.
