Not much is known about Convalmore.. what I do know though is that this one was a fairly inconspicuous Speyside distillery that shut down in 1985. Back then most of its produce went into making blends. Now once you know all of this you begin to wonder what to expect from this expression that costs a whopping GBP 650... even though you know it has been matured for 36 long years before being bottled. But from the moment you bring the glass near your nose... all those apprehensions begin to quickly fade away.

It starts with a lovely mix of red ripe apples with some herbal oils... what follows is freshly baked biscuits from a bakery along with some soft perfect notes of oak. After letting it breathe for sometime there are some citrus notes possibly some lemon that come through

The palate starts with mild sweetness from honey and then there's a burst dark spices that fills your mouth.. as their effects wear off there are lots of juicy red berries and some apples as well

Finally the palate is again has a lot red apples along with some strong and rather refreshing notes of menthol. The oak cask in which the spirit lay for 36 years also makes its presence felt as it is time to say good bye to this wonderful expression.

What's great about this Convalmore is that 36 years of maturation has ensured that each aspect of it is just perfectly balanced ensuring a truly memorable experience
