The Ultimate is a series by Han and Maurice Van Wees, well known gents in the Dutch whisky community. They started in 1994 from their HQ in Amersfoort. All their bottlings are single casks at either 46% ABV or cask strength, non chillfiltered and not colored. The motto of the Van Wees Bros is to serve an honest single malt.

It has a classic Dalmore nose with a nice sherry influence. Raisins and fresh figs, but also a lot of citrus fruit. Mild spices. A lot of vanilla and a touch of oak, that even offers a trace of smoke. Almond cake. Not exactly complex, but more than okay.

The attack is creamy with louder spices. Oak increases. But it is still the fruit that sits in the drivers seat. Again rather mucho citrus and less dark fruit. Beeswax and almonds.

The finish is medium long, does not offer anything new except emphasize the nuts.

This is a classic Dalmore, meaning it is fine. Affordable too at 55 EUR. Bargain, actually.
