This Edradour was bottled at the age of 13 years old at cask strength in a beautiful 70cl decanter. No wood finish, but simply Edradour style maturation on a sherry cask.

He has a wonderful old gold to copper color and creates magnificent beads in the glass. This one is off to a good start.

It smells magnificent and spreads a multitude of aromas: raisins, liquorice, orange peel, thyme, marmalade, crème brulée, nuts and some spices. There is a hint of smoke and a whiff of mint. This is a ‘wow’-nose. And it can do with a bit of water too. That only makes this dram more creamy and sweet.

After a fierce, spicy and creamy attack, I got oranges, peach, ginger and again crème brulée on the palate, but also quite a bit of oak. Drying and a little bitter.

The finish too is drying, but packs quite a punch. Wonderful.

I had almost given up hope, but this is without a doubt a great release, by far the best Edradour I’ve tasted. If you must boast an Edradour in your cabinet, let this be the one.
