Description: distilled back in 1984 and matured for 26 years in a Bourbon hogshead(#2861).

Nose: a gentle fresh lemony nose, some oak tannins in the form of sawdust are mixed in. I can also detect a faint whiff of orange blossom, but the leading aroma is that of honeyed peaches with a rosemary touch.

Mouth: oily body, but grassy palate. Homologous with the nose this bouquet mostly consisting of subtle alcoholic stings, luscious honey, bitter grapefruit and tannins from the oak (One thing is sure, the 26 odd years in that Bourbon hogshead left their mark on this dram).

Finish: short and bitter, some notes of dried barley with just that bit of orange peel

It is a great nose, but we’ve seen this before haven’t we?
I really want to say more about this whisky, it is an easy yet powerful and tasty dram with a lot of fruity tannins, but not too complex. Let’s call it simple and enjoyable and leave it at that.
