The Whisky Agency has bottled no less than four casks for 1975 Glen Elgin (or at least parts of it, judging from the number of bottles). Three in the Perfect Dram series and this one from the so-called Landscape series. The bourbon hoggie yielded 186 bottles, of which some can still be found today.

The nose starts off dusty, as if I am nosing this in the attic. Very floral. Wild flowers in a pasture. Heather. Wood shavings. Beeswax. Green banana. Vanilla and some nuts. Twig of eucalyptus. And surprisingly little oak. Becomes fruitier as you leave it to breath, but never turns into a fruit bomb.

Glides gently over the taste buds with a nice bite from the spices. Mint tea and some more wood. Hints of citrus, that join the unripe banana. Powerful, but does not need water.

In the drying, medium length finish, the mint tea stands out.

This old Glen Elgin stood the test of time well. Around 160 EUR.
