To celebrate the 170th birthday of the distillery in August 2010 no less than 17.000 bottles of this special edition were released. It is non-chill filtered, non-coloured and a marriage of some exclusive casks from the distillery. Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm used cask from 1976 to 1999. You immediately understand why this bottle has no age statement on the label.

The nose is typical Glen Grant: white fruit, sweet malt, light vanilla and honey, but this offers just a little more. Gooseberries, banana peel, light sugared lemon peel, blood oranges, caramel and sultanas. Hints of kiwi. Light smoke. Very nice mix and very pleasant.

Full mouthfeel, with the emphasis on sherry. Rum raisins, stone fruit and candied fruit, citrus, green banana, gooseberries and even more smoke than on the nose. Very good.

The finish is wonderfully long and smoky sweet.

While rather straightforward, not really complex, this is a stunner. Between 80 and 100 EUR, depending on where you shop.
