The German bottler The Whisky Agency makes his labels little works of art. This Glen Grant from 1972 in the series Grotesque Crocs was released in 2011, making it a 38 Year Old. Let us see if the contents is as pleasing to the palate as the label is to the eye.

The nose is wonderfully creamy, almost buttery, on all kinds on dried fruits. Prunes, banana, figs, apricots and some nuts. But above all, Poire William (the fruit, not the booze). It also contains different types of honey. Truly sweet and fruity, mild on spices. Excellent.

It is syrupy on the palate and fierce on ginger, cinnamon, aniseed and a bit of mint. Coffee beans and roasted almond shavings. Sugared orange peel, dipped in dark chocolate. Outstanding.

The finish is mildly drying without losing the creaminess completely, with fading fruit and a crescendo of spices. Honey is the keyword though. Wonderful.

This Glen Grant deserve quite a few superlatives, so I gladly added them to each paragraph. Thank you, Kris, for the sample.
