This is a very old Glen Grant, bottled in 2009. The stuff is no less than 59 years old, because it came down the lyne arms when my dad was only three. Imagine that! The is the oldest Glen Grant I have tasted so far. I presume it will hold that title for quite a while.

The nose is soft and sweet, but not very aromatic. Needs both time and hand warmth. Honey and roasted nuts appear first, followed by some dried oranges. A bit of coffee and marzipan come through. Benedicine liqueuer. Walnuts, too. Gets better as time passes. Patience pays.

What a pity! On the palate, it is very watery and shows a bit of OBE. Light tannins and cold tea push the sweet fruit to the background. Mild on nutmeg. Falls apart, I am afraid.

The oak dominates in the medium long finish.

A bit of a disappointment.
