Tasting Notes by markjedi1
I tasted this 40 Year Old Glen Keith from Silver Seal before at a festival in Beglium. I enjoyed it so much, that I took a sample to try again later. Later is now. It was distilled in my year of birth.
The nose is exceptional, to say the least. Not a fruit bomb, although I do get whiffs of pineapple and mango. Weirdly enough, I cannot get the image of sweet carrots out of my minds eye. Sprinkled with cinnamon, mint and nutmeg. Dried flowers. Old leather. Some parsley as well. Like I said: exceptional. The oak remains silent.
On the palate, the cask did its thing. White pepper, nutmeg, even some chili. The yellow fruit turns white. Apple sauce? A tiny bit of green tea. Pink grapefruit and hints of tonic.
The medium length finish remains sweet, but allows the spices to speak the loudest.
Not as much fruit as I had hoped, but it still is a beautiful Glen Keith. It can still be found fro around 250 EUR.
