Happy Friday the 13th! And today we have a bit of a horror show that would make Jason Voorhees proud.

Glen Parker is an undisclosed Speyside single malt bottled by Angus Dundee. I suspect this is from Tomintoul, which is the sole Speyside distillery owned by this company. In Ontario, the LCBO has stopped stocking this. And with good reason.

The colour is a medium gold. On the nose, quite rough and spirity, with cedar and indeterminate herbs. Very floral and perfume. Seems quite young to me. A fair bit of antiseptic, which seems out of place in a Speyside. Some caramel in the background. Water does little to neither the nose nor the palate.

On the palate, also herbal and floral but not distinctive nor pleasant. Very rough and ready. To my mind, this is not yet ready for bottling. Few oak notes. All over the place.

On the finish, some spice and cloves but again - very rough. This is a very cheap single malt scotch - you won't find a much lower price point on a Scottish single malt. And it shows. As far as I'm concerned, this has no business being in the Whisky Advent Calendar. It's an entirely nondescript, budget scotch whisky. I'm not saying I expect 50 year old Macallans in the calendar (thought that actually may very well be here…stay tuned…) but this seems out of place in its low quality. Avoid.
