The German Whisky-Fässle joined forces with the Dutch Whiskybase.com to bottle this cask of Glencadam 1974. It was brought to the market in 2011 for around 155 EUR, but nowadays is somewhat hard to find. I find the label terribly ugly, but that says nothing of the whisky inside the bottle, of course.

The nose is lucious and soft. Besides a lot of herbal hints, I get a nice jacket of fruits with blood oranges, juicy mandarins, passion fruit and unripe pineapple. Praliné and a soft touch of oak. All very subtle.

On the palate it is soft and somewhat creamy. The fruit returns, but the spices are a lot louder now, giving strength to this dram. Some herbal tea, white pepper, ginger and liquorice.

The finish is silky soft and absolutely not drying, but rather short.

This was clearly a good cask, with the oak and sherry supporting the Glencadam character instead of overpowering it. Class!
