Typical Glenfarclas profile, but somehow less than the sum of its parts. This bottle has been open for some years and may have lost some volatiles, but I don’t remember being impressed with this when it was newly opened.
Nose: Oak, malt and sultanas along with some liquorish like bitterness. Taste: Well melded flavours which mirror the nose. The liquorish notes might be tending to creosote. Finish: Long full and satisfying.

I missed my chance to glut my face on fine Glenfarclas. I fear the great barrels are behind us. Today, they just don't taste as they once did. I've been disappointed over the past year by the 21 and 25. Now, I'm on pins and needles about a 40 that I bought last year. If it's as sulfury as the other two, I will literally weep

You have deeper pockets than I! I would expect a 40 year old GFC to predate the problems with sulphur casks so your investment should be safe...
