Glengoyne is bottled quite often by the German Duitse Malts of Scotland. This is already their 28th cask if I am not mistaken. I have not tried all of them, of course, but I really wanted to try this new release, a Glengoyne from 2000, matured on a sherry cask.

The nose is quite sweet on plums, sultanas, mandarin and liquorice. I am reminded of English candy, somewhat. Cuberdons (Google it!) and toffee apples. Coffee beans! Hint of milk chocolade. Freshly polished leather. Nice.

Despite the high alcohol level, it arrives pretty softly, but spicy. Creamy too, almost syrupy. A bittersweet edge appears. Mandarin and grapefruit? Espresso with a layer of foam. Crème au beurre. This is special.

The finish is more of the same and pleasantly long. It leaves the mouth warm.

Not the most complex Glengoyne, but very nice. For those with a sweet tooth. Serve it with coffee and pastry. Around 80 EUR.
