Kilkerran Tasting Room
Tasting Notes by markjedi1
Kilkerran is produced in the Glengyle distillery, which can be found in Longrow and is run by the people from Springbank. You still with me? The Tasting Room bottle contains a 6 Year Old Kilkerran that matured on a bourbon cask.
The nose is austere and offers dried grass, flints, lime, apples and pears. After a few minutes it becomes a lot more aromatic with loads of citrus. Sweet as Limoncello. Water hardly changes the profile. A bit more esters, but to little to be worth mentioning.
On the palate, this is somewhat creamy with a lot of grains and grasses. Again a lot of citrus, like on the nose. Limezest. Through it you will discover a lot of kininie, making it quite bitter. Sharp as a knife. Heavily peppered. There is no change when diluted.
The finish is long and bittersweet, but to osharp to be a top dram.
This is a young animal which, in this case, translates into a sharp palate and bitter finish.
