I got this sample from Eric Vermeire, who promotes Gordon & Macphail in Belgium. He gave it to me at the festival for independent bottlers at a time that the bottle had just hit the shelves.

Beautifully fruity nose with mild spices. Apple sauce, gooseberries, mandarin and green banana. A bit of butter. Nutmeg and ginger. Touch of wood. Dried grass? A salty edge in the background. Nice nose!

Mildly spicy and a bit dry on the tongue. But punchy! Nuts and honey join the fray. The fruit is less outspoken, but the wood all the more so. Hint of caramel and honey. Liquorice. The oranges return, albeit candied. A hint of smoke. Toasted oak?

Long, sweet but spicy finish that end is a surprisingly salty note.

Powerfull Glenlochy, despite the modest ABV, but unfortunately not cheap. If you have 415 EUR to spare, this bottle could be yours.
