Not so long ago, the Glenlossie distillery only worked six months per year. The workers spent the other half year producing spirit at the neighbouring distillery of Mannochmore. But since 2007 both distillery are in full time production.

Glenlossie is mostly known as the core malt of the Haig blend (together with Glenkinchie and Linkwood), which sells about 5 million bottles a year!

It's hard to find an official bottling, but the Indies love Glenlossie for its quality. Hence you will find many independent releases of Glenlossie. The one I tasted was a Murry McDavid expression.

The nose is soft and refreshing, ideal as an aperitif. Freshly cut grass, heather and some spices (otherwise I might have mistaken this one for a Lowland). A touch of lime.

This continues on the palate, adding ripe fruits on a spicy platter. What is this? Why am I reminded of iced tea? Ha!

The finish, long and clean, remains fruity.

Yes, with an amuse-guele, this is the dram to be had!
