After the 21 Year Old from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, coded SMWS 31.20, I will now try the 22 Year Old, coded SMWS 31.21. If you know their coding system, this will sound logical. If you do not know their system, you will still find it logical, I am sure. Class dismissed, let us taste this refill sherry butt matured Islander!

There are hardly any Jura characteristics to be found on this nose, except a whiff of peat. I get mostly sweet associations like raisins, mocha, whipped cream and cherries. Pear syrup, too. The whole is wrapped in a nice jacket of peat and woodsmoke. This is very good. A hint of dusty attic gives it quite the cachet.

It is utterly creamy, but does lack some punch. It slides down gently, wonderfully sweet with dark associations: dades, raisins, mocha. All in all, a great continuation of an already great nose. Does not need water.

On the finish, that is way too short, it is mostly the magnificent oak that does the talking.

This is by far one of the best Jura I have tasted to date. Unfortunately not easy to find if you are not a member of the club.
