Erik Molenaar of Kintra – who is currently hard at work at building his own distillery in Holland – bottled this blended malt end of last year. The youngest in the mix is 14 years old, but it is said to contain much older stuff, most of it sherry matured. Let us get to it.

Yes, on the nose, the sherry notes are immediately noticeable. Very round and creamy nose on all kinds of fruit, both white and yellow and candied. Think oranges and grapefruit. Bitter and sweet. Some struck match as well. Works like a charm.

On the palate, all elements of the nose return, but are supported by a big spiciness and some woodsmoke. Becomes surprisingly smoky even. A touch of rubber rears its head, just shy of becoming an off-note. Some coffee and chocolate shavings. Nice.

Fairly long, sweet and spicy finish.

There is nothing wrong with this. I admit to being a bit curious to the composition.
