The Italian bottler Wilson & Morgan has brought us quite a few goodies already. So I am quite curious to their Barrel Selection of this 12 Year Old Linkwood, a distillate from 2000.

The nose is fatty, pure farmer butter. It has a meaty side. Slightly farmy as well. Mashed patatoes. After some handwarmth, I also get sweetness from honey, white fruit and a teaspoon of brown sugar. The longer you wait, the sweeter it becomes. Very pleasant.

On the palate, it is soft and fatty as well (creamy just does not cover it). I do get some more typical Linkwood now, with grains, flowers and white fruit. Prickles a little. Well seasoned. Peppermix and some candied ginger. The farmy side returns. I quite like it.

The finish is surprisingly long, very spicy and sweet.

The first whiff promised little good, but with some handwarmth and patience, this Linkwood blossomed into a very, very lovely dram that goes down easily. Thank you, Jeroen, for the sample.
