This 20 years old Littlemill 1990 was bottled by Malts of Scotland in the Clubs series to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Belgian Fulldram whisky club. On the back label, they explain that they’ve evolved from peat heads to advocates of fruity whisky.

Nose: a little closed and grassy at first (were in the Lowlands alright), but it grows fruitier by the minute. Honeydew melon, kiwi, green banana, lemon balm. Lots of pink grapefruit. Lovely hints of frangipane as well. Almond paste. Succade. A bit of freshly sawn wood and a few estery notes (bubblegum / nail polish remover) now and then. Really great. Compared to its sister cask #915, this is fruitier and more complex.

Mouth: very punchy and beautifully fruity. Grapefruit again (maybe a bit overpowering, just like in the sister cask), lemon zest, some vanilla. Ginger and nutmeg. A faint waxiness as well. Hints of cinnamon. Woody notes in the aftertaste. With water: almonds.

Finish: rather long with spices from the oak and bittersweet citrus.

Sounds brilliant! And an 8 from you is easily a 9 or even a 9.5 from anyone else.

I scored it 90/100 so I can warmly recommend it. The big problem is that only +/- 10 bottles were available to the public... the club members bought the rest of the 183 bottles.

@jdcook I've got a bottle and have friends coming Down Under in April 2011. I could ask them to take it with them and ship it inside Australia to you. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

@jdcook: I meant a sample, not the whole bottle, of course.
