This was the second Speymalt that we opened in July, the other one being the 1966. Very similar to the 1966 overall, yet sweeter and slightly less smoky were my thoughts.

Nose: Sherry and chocolate with some sweetness of toffee and fruity undertones. Pleasant and deep.

Body: Rich, and sliding toward the sherry, slightly smoky yet not overindulging

Finish: lengthy and slightly peaty with more hints of the sherry.

Overall impression: This was a great dram. Exceptional quality, lasting flavors and an overall great experience.

A 92 from me.

@Charlie Davis - I know it's been a while since your review, pardon me for a question. In your review you described it as "sliding toward sherry...". Is it more a sherry or more a single malt scotch whisky? Your review is inviting, inviting me to seek this one out for a two finger shot. One portion of the shot to get familiar and the other portion to pair with a fine premium cigar. And enjoy this whole experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.
