Tasting Notes by markjedi1

I am not sure what the boys from Whiskybase are thinking, but their Third Release is literally a limited release. They only brought 48 bottles of the 23 Year Old Lowlander to the market. Last winter I tried their Littlemill 22 Year Old 1989 from their Inaugural Release, which I found to be very pleasant indeed. So expectations are soaring.

On the nose, I get nice sherry influences with old leather, candied fruits like apricots, mango and oranges in a warm cake. Marzipan and cigar box. Wonderfully seasoned with cinnamon, saffron and cloves. Absolutely top nose.

It is honeysweet, creamy and feisty. Licquorice, coffee, hazelnuts. The fruit becomes a tad darker and less tropical. Prunes, dades and dried figs. The oak starts to speak as well, but not once turns overly bitter. No, the bitterness from the oak and citrus remains beautifully under control.

The long finish remains spicy and warms the innards.

A touch better than the former Littlemill from Archives. Completely sold out, though. Well, what did you expect with only 48 bottles?
